Ever since the end of the 19th century when Pere Seda, Pedro Reus Morro, founded the bodegas that today bear his name, five generations of Majorcan wine makers have pioneered the implementation of the latest wine-making technologies. Nowadays, Bodegas Pere Seda control more than 100 hectares of vineyards, situated in the municipal districts of Manacor and Felanitx, where they grow mostly autochthonous varieties of grape (Callet, Manto Negro and Premsal), as well as foreign varieties (Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Parellada, Macabeo, Moscatel and Chardonnay). They are all needed for the "coupages" and for making the young and "crianza" wines included in the guarantee of quality and origin Denominación de Origen: Pla i Llevant - Mallorca. Our wineries in Manacor incorporate the most advanced control systems for the production and maturing of wines. This, together with our staff trained in the family tradition, has resulted in our bodegas becoming synonymous with quality and appraised at an international level.

 

 

The Vineyards

Our 130 hectares of vineyards are situated in the municipal districts of Manacor and Felanitx, in Majorca=s wine-growing district of Pla i Llevant. The vineyards produce sufficient grapes to make the Pere Seda wines, for which autochthonous varieties are mostly used.
The district of Pla i Llevant is characterised by its calcareous earth with a rich subsoil and its typically Mediterranean climate. The winters are mild with low rainfall and the hot dry summers are ideal for ripening the grapes.

 

Pere Seda wines are made with a combination of grapes selected from many varieties, allowing us to offer a range of wines to satisfy all palates.

More than one hundred years ago, Pere Seda began dedicating his life to the vineyards. There have been many changes since then. To transform all the grapes from his vineyards into good wine, Bodegas Pere Seda have really made a great effort to adapt their machinery to meet present-day requirements. Their objective has been to modernise the task of collecting and making wine, but without ever losing sight of the formula and traditional technique acquired over the passing years.

As a result, Pere Seda is the winery with most wine production (over 5,000 hectolitres) included in the guarantee of origin and quality label, Denominación de Origen Pla i Llevant de Mallorca. This careful process of elaboration and the most advanced wood ageing controls have meant that for several years Pere Seda wines have been regularly exported abroad

 

The Wines

 

Day after day for over one hundred years, the family of Pere Reus Morro, also known as Pere Seda, has been dedicated to the vineyards and wineries. The result of this dedication is their wines. Patiently elaborated, with time on their side, Pere Seda wines satisfy all palates.

These wines have been awarded the prestigious guarantee of origin and quality label, Denominación de Origen Pla i Llevant de Mallorca. They were the first wines collected in Majorca using a mechanical grape gatherer. They have also been exported to many European countries, obtained the medal for the Best Reserva Wine of Majorca in 1996... The evidence is clear. All that remains is for you prove it by trying our wines.
